The charming city of
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia since 1991, is an important
tourist centre, both as a tourist destination and as a key
route intersection between the Adriatic coast and Central
Europe. The city has a tradition spanning almost one thousand
years and celebrated its 900th anniversary in 1994. Zagreb not
only has a wealth of culture, with historic
monuments, museums and galleries, but also offers chic shopping,
excellent and varied gastronomy as well as sports and
recreation facilities. Zagreb is an important centre for
congress tourism, business events and trade fairs, not just in
Croatia but also in this area of Europe. The city has road,
rail and air access to all major cities and tourist resorts in
Croatia.
